There are several immigration options for a person would like to come to the United States. One of these options is an immigration conditional petition, which helps them obtain permanent residency so they can live and work in the United States.
Marriage to a U.S. citizen
An immigration conditional petition allows some immigrants to remove the conditions that are placed on their temporary green cards. Usually, conditions are placed on green cards obtained through marriage to a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident or through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.
If a person receives their green card through marriage, their conditional green card is valid for two years.
To remove the conditions, the person and their spouse must file a petition to remove conditions on residence and provide evidence that their marriage is valid, such as joint financial statements.
They may also have to attend a biometric appointment and an interview with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Once USCIS approves, the petitioner will be granted a 10-year permanent green card.
Immigrant Investor Program
The E-B Immigrant Investor Program allows immigrants to make an investment in commercial projects which create jobs and support U.S. economic growth. If their application is successful, they will receive a conditional two-year green card.
To obtain a permanent green card through this program, the applicant must file a petition with USCIS and provide evidence that they met the program’s requirements. If they meet the requirements, they will be granted a 10-year permanent green card.
