Immigrants who venture to Florida are often doing so because they are seeking opportunities they do not have in their home country. For them, the primary objective is to gain employment.

Given the way immigration has become a hot topic of conversation with extensive debate about it, prospective workers who want to come to the United States from another country should be aware of the documents they might need. One is an Employment Authorization Document.

What is an Employment Authorization Document?

The Employment Authorization Document provides proof that a person is eligible to legally work in the U.S. Only certain people are required to apply for this document, known as EAD. First, they must be authorized to work in the U.S. based on their circumstances or their immigration status. Regarding circumstances, they could be a person who is in the U.S. after being granted asylum or as a refugee.

They also must be obligated to apply for permission to work. There are forms that must be filled out based on registering to be a permanent resident or for an adjustment of status; having applied for asylum and withholding of removal; or have received non-immigrant status letting them stay in the U.S. but are not allowed to work without securing permission to do so. Lawful permanent residents do not need the EAD.

With the difficult landscape for immigration, it is important to have help

Although many people are simply coming to the U.S. because they want to work, it can still be difficult to do so legally. Knowing the process can stoke confusion, especially for those who are new to the U.S., do not have a full command of the language and are fearful as to what the future might hold.

In today’s complex environment, people may be unsure of what steps they should take to be allowed to legally work in the U.S. Since every situation is different, they need to have assistance that is specifically tailored to their needs. This is particularly true when trying to work while being unsure of how to do so without violating the increasingly difficult immigration laws. Having professional assistance is imperative to achieve a desired outcome.
